Introduction

SafeDrive Companion ("the App") is developed by Michał Żmudzin, operating as Revida ("we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our Android application.

Driving features work on your phone. Calls, contacts, notifications, and settings stay on the device. The only time message content leaves the phone is when you turn on optional AI summarization (Premium).

Information We Do NOT Collect

SafeDrive Companion is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do not collect:

• Personal identification information (name, email, phone number)
• Location data or GPS coordinates
• Contact lists or call logs
• SMS or message content, unless you turn on optional AI summarization (described below)
• Advertising IDs
• Usage analytics or behavioral profiles
• Content from other apps, except message text you choose to summarize with optional AI

Permissions We Request

SafeDrive Companion requires certain Android permissions to function. Here's why we need each one and how we use them:

Accessibility Service

We use the AccessibilityService API exclusively to:

• Display the app's overlay interface over other applications (e.g., navigation apps)
• Enable hands-free control of music, calls, and notifications while driving
• Automatically return to the map screen after completing an action

We do NOT use this permission to:

• Read or record content from other apps
• Collect any personal data
• Modify system settings without your explicit consent
• Record audio or video remotely

Notification Access

Used only to display notification counts and allow you to interact with incoming messages hands-free while driving. Message content stays on your device unless you turn on optional AI summarization.

Phone Permissions

Used only to display recent calls and enable one-tap calling to your favorite contacts. Call data is accessed locally and never leaves your device.

Bluetooth & NFC

Used only to detect when you connect to your car's Bluetooth or tap an NFC tag, enabling automatic app launch. No connection data is stored or transmitted.

Optional AI summarization

Premium includes an optional summary of recent messages, read aloud while you drive. It is off until you enable it in Settings, and you can turn it off at any time.

When you use it, the app sends the following to our server (Google Cloud Functions, region us-central1) so it can write a short summary:

• Message text and sender name (up to 10 recent messages)
• The messaging app name and your language
• A Firebase anonymous sign-in token, used only to apply a daily limit
• Your Google Play purchase token, used only to confirm Premium

The server forwards the message text to OpenRouter (model processing) to produce the summary, with a zero-data-retention setting. We do not write message text into our database. We do store rate-limit counters: an anonymous Firebase user id, a transformed IP address, and request counts. The purchase token is checked with Google Play and is not saved by us.

Data Storage

App settings and preferences are stored locally on your device. Local data is removed when you clear app data or uninstall the app. AI rate-limit counters described above are the only records we keep on our server, and they do not include message content.

Third-Party Services

The app does not show ads and does not use advertising or analytics SDKs.

Google Play Billing

Premium purchases are processed by Google Play Billing. We do not receive your payment details. See Google's Privacy Policy.

Firebase

Optional AI summarization uses Firebase Anonymous Authentication and Cloud Functions. Firebase may process the anonymous account and the request needed to run that feature. Crash reports may be sent through Firebase Crashlytics (device model, OS version, and crash diagnostics). See Firebase privacy information.

OpenRouter

When AI summarization is on, message text is processed by OpenRouter to generate the summary. See OpenRouter's privacy policy.

Children's Privacy

SafeDrive Companion is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. The app is designed for adult drivers.

Data Security

Settings and driving data stay on your device. Message text is transmitted only when you use optional AI summarization, and it is not stored in our database.

Your Rights

You can:

• Turn off AI summarization in the app settings
• Clear all app data through Android Settings
• Revoke any permissions at any time through Android Settings
• Uninstall the app to remove all local data
• Email us to ask about the rate-limit records tied to optional AI summarization

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
